Over-the-counter eye drops Bausch + Lomb’s Alaway is expected to launch in the United States, the company said in a press release.
Preservative-free antihistamine gout is FDA-approved for itching relief, according to the company.
âWith the availability of Alaway [ketotifen fumarate ophthalmic solution 0.035%] Preservative-free antihistamine eye drops, consumers now have a new OTC option that provides fast, long-lasting relief from itchy eyes without the use of preservatives â, Bausch + Lomb US President Joe gordon said in the press release.
Alaway drops contain a prescription formula, formulated to block the release of histamine and reduce symptoms of itchy eye relief at the source, the company said in the release. A few minutes after instillation, gout provides relief that lasts up to 12 hours with a single dose.
âWith Alaway’s preservative-free formula, allergy sufferers now have a new option with less risk of irritation associated with preservatives to help relieve their itchy eye symptoms. ” Arthur Epstein, OD, director of clinical research at Phoenix Eye Care, said in the statement.
