The Covid-19 pandemic has introduced many words such as “quarantine”, “N-95” and “oximeter” into our daily vocabulary. And yes, it has made ‘Dolo 650’ quite ubiquitous, making a household name and providing fodder for many memes since the third wave hit India.
Many have jokingly dubbed the tablet as “India’s favorite snack” and even compared it to sweets.
Dilip Surana, president and CEO of Micro Labs, which makes Dolo 650, expressed surprise at the drug’s unexpected popularity in an interview with Money Control. “(It) has always been a popular brand among doctors across India. However, we didn’t expect the kind of popularity that Dolo-650 has gained recently because we never marketed the tablet directly to the public.
In fact, nearly two years into the pandemic, it looks like tablets need no advertising. Here, take a look at some of the rib ticklers:

Explaining the reasons for the success, Surana said body aches and fever were the most common symptoms of Covid, and that Dolo 650 – being an analgesic (analgesic) and antipyretic (reduces fever) – helps manage both symptoms. He also thinks word of mouth advertising has helped. According to business today, Dolo 650 has become the most prescribed drug during the Covid-19 pandemic.
Despite its popularity, it is important to note that paracetamol abuse can be harmful to your health. While over-the-counter medications like Dolo 650 can be purchased without a doctor’s prescription, it is recommended that they are taken only in consultation with a doctor. While paracetamol is considered a safe drug, its overuse is associated with liver damage.
