Ryan Burr reveals harrowing injury and coming out story originally appeared on NBC Sports Chicago

Baseball is filled with pain and dark times.

White socks reliever Ryan Burr has been through some dark times this season.

burr bravely shared her story on social mediarecounting the tearing of his labrum in his throwing shoulder and the emotional roller coaster he endured after the White Sox released him.

Burr writes in his Instagram caption, “I got to a point where I couldn’t take the pain anymore” and that “The mental effects of not being 100% may have been even worse than the physical effects of the shoulder. “

Burr was reinstated from the 10-day IL in late April following his shoulder injury, but was moved back to Triple-A two days after his last MLB appearance in late May. In that game against the Kansas City Royals, Burr allowed three hits and two runs in one inning.

This season, Burr has appeared in eight games, giving up eight hits and six runs in nine total innings to give himself a 6.00 ERA.

It wasn’t until June that the White Sox made their final decision on Burr.

“On June 13, the White Sox released me,” Burr’s caption read. “I felt devastated, embarrassed and heartbroken. I felt lost. Going through surgery to fix your shoulder is one thing, but doing it without the support of the team you injured your arm for. a very deep cut. Literally.”

In a statement to NBC Sports Chicago, the White Sox said: “Ryan Burr’s release had no impact on his 2022 earnings, surgical care or rehabilitation, the costs of which continue to be covered by the club. His only impact was allowing the White Sox to use his 40-man spot to exclude Lance Lynn from the 60-day injured list.

According to Burr’s post, he underwent successful arthroscopic shoulder surgery and plans to make a full recovery.

Burr intends to play in MLB again and is currently a free agent.

“With all that said, I’m not done. Not even f—–g close. The fire burns hotter than ever,” Burr said.
