Karachi shops are missing
Residents of Karachi have complained of a shortage of painkillers as pharmacies and pharmacies say there is a shortage of stock as demand has increased with the surge in coronavirus cases.
When SAMAA TV went to pharmacies, the only response we got was “shortage in the market”.
“I visited many medical stores for a strip of Panadol, but couldn’t find it anywhere,” said one of the shoppers.
Analgesics based on paracetamol, acetaminophen or aspirin are not available and where they are on sale they are more expensive.
Why is the medicine not available?
Wholesale Karachi Pharmaceuticals Vice President Aamer Malik attributed the shortage to the fifth wave of the coronavirus.
He said doctors are advising people to use these drugs, which has led to an increase in demand.
